Diversity, Anti-Racism and Equity (DARE) Committee
Mission
To actively support the University of Washington Genetic Counseling Graduate Program (GCGP) in fostering a culture of diversity, equity, care and respect and to hold the program accountable for its commitment to anti-racism.
Vision
To transform higher education and health care by dismantling existing structures of white supremacy and advancing diversity, anti-racism and equity.

Goals
In collaboration with the GGCP leadership, the DARE Committee aims to:
- Design and implement an anti-racist admissions process
- Review and continuously update the curriculum through an anti-racist lens incorporating faculty and student feedback
- Train faculty, students and clinical supervisors in cultural humility and multiculturalism
- Prioritize recruitment and outreach efforts to underserved populations
- Foster a supportive and inclusive environment for all students and faculty
- Participate in resolution management for student grievances as needed
- Review outward-facing program communications, including but not limited to marketing materials, social media activity and policies
- Provide mentorship to learners during their training and facilitate networking and career mentorship after graduation
- Measure and assess the success of our diversity and equity work to ensure that the UW GCGP upholds its mission, vision and values
